Thank you for your interest in presenting an event at Divine Inspirations Bookstore & Wellness Center. We host over 20 events a month and we work hard to find the highest quality teachers, speakers and authors, as well as the right audience for you.

Divine Inspirations Bookstore & Wellness Center has event space within the store where you are ensured complete privacy, should you require that, for your event. This space can seat up to 30 people and is ideal for workshops, readings, healing and energy work. The room is decorated in antique glassware blue and cream froth which adds a sense of serenity to the room. There is a CD player and 2 multi-level lamps should you require lower lighting for meditation purposes. There are yoga mats and Mexican blankets available should you want people to sit on the floor. Across the hall there is a small kitchen (usage upon request only), and a bathroom. A projector and DVD player are available, upon request, to show slides or movies.

For events requiring space for over 30 people, the bookstore proper can be transformed into seating for 60-100 people. Or we rent off-site venues. We will find the space, supply the books, arrange for any equipment needed, do promotion, and run the event. We have arranged and hosted events of over 100 people. We are happy to be a bookseller at your conference, seminar or place of business. Contracts for larger events are mandatory.

Every month we receive dozens of proposals. In order to ensure the best fit for both Divine Inspirations Bookstore & Wellness Center and the presenter, we need to receive a formal proposal from you. Note that we book events 3-6 months in advance. Please follow the guidelines listed below:

1. All proposals must be submitted by email to Gloria Brown, gloriabrown@divinebooks.net.

2. Include a description of what you would like to teach and how you present it. Be specific – tell me what students will learn, what materials will be presented, equipment needed, your qualifications, references, your name, telephone number, e-mail address, and home address.

3. If you have a press kit, a book or a CD, please mail that to:

For emailed proposal attachments, please give your document YOUR name or the name of your business, NOT “Divine Inspirations Bookstore & Wellness Center proposal”, etc. We need to identify each attachment by YOUR name.
When sending the email, please do not send graphics, or use special fonts or colors since these items take up so much space. A simple word file is best.

If your event is appropriate for the store and we feel we can secure an interested audience, I will contact you. It may take 2-3 months to be considered for a spot in our schedule, but last-minute openings do occur. If you are chosen you will need to provide a small write-up and mini-bio with photo for your event-listing on the web site and calendar copy.

Please don’t expect to be contacted right away after you submit your proposal. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Readers and healers will be asked to give a sample reading or healing so that we can see if there is a good fit between your work and our customers. We still need your proposal in writing and you will be contacted if you are considered.

If you are chosen to present an event, we ask that you also be responsible for marketing your class, in addition to all the promotion the book store does as well. Our promotions include:

  • Listing on the web site
  • Listing on the hard copy of the newsletter which is distributed in the store
  • Included in press release to all local media
  • Offered for listing in the regional mind, body & spirit events calendars (print and online)
  • Offered for listing in local newspaper events calendars
  • Included in weekly email to over 1,000 people and social networking sites
  • In-store promotion

Weekdays events can run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weeknight events are from approximately 7-9:00 pm. Saturday workshops can begin at 11a.m. and run no later than 5 p.m., Sunday classes (are by special request). We ask our presenters to be willing to have a minimum of 4 people for their event. We usually have more than this, but there are no guarantees.

Divine Inspirations Bookstore & Wellness Center collects the cost of the class and pays the presenter a 60%-40% split (60% to the presenter). Presenters will be responsible for paying taxes on this income. Divine Inspirations Bookstore & Wellness Center files 1099s for presenters paid more than $600 in the calendar year per IRS instructions. Please note that we do not do any promotion if you are just renting our space. Feel free to contact us for rental fees and options.
